2022 & 2023: A Glance at Numerology

Another year is ending, another beginning. As we close out 2022, a 6 year (we’ll dive deeper into that soon), it’s a great time to reflect on the year 2022 for you personally. Whether you believe in New Year’s resolutions or not, it’s always beneficial to pause and examine what’s working, what’s not, and adapt before moving forward.

So when you look back on the past year, what stands out for you?

Both positively and negatively.

What experiences did you absolutely love?

And not love?

What areas of your life felt really balanced and brought you peace?

And what areas did you find chaotic or stressful?

As you move forward in this coming year, what do you want more of?

And less of?

Taking a look at your life and the areas within it is the first step before taking any action.

Before we dive into the numerology of the years, if these sound like questions you’d like to explore further, and within community, Sol Luna Yoga invites you to our annual New Year’s workshop. The workshop will be held January 1 from 11 am - 1 pm. We hope you can join us!

Now let’s explore the numerology of each of these years, and you can learn how to find your personal year number as well, making it a little more unique to you!

How do you find the year number?

You begin by adding each individual number within the year. Let’s start with 2022: 2+0+2+2=6.
2022 is a 6 year.

What is a 6 Year?

Numerology can go in many different directions so stay with me on this. In numerology, the number 6 is related to service, responsibility, priorities, and duties… for the purpose of balance within yourself.

Are you someone who struggles with balancing your priorities, your health and well-being, over someone else’s? Are you a natural caregiver, nurturing and giving? The number 6 asks you to find that balance, and prioritize yourself.

Interestingly, in astrology, the 6th house is all about health, wellbeing, caretaking and service to others. It is also ruled by Virgo, a nurturing sign by nature, yet disciplined and structured, demonstrating that balance of priorities and responsibility.

In the tarot, the 6 in Major Arcana is represented by the Lovers. It involves matters of the heart while also balancing the duality of love, life, and relationships.

So what does this mean on a collective level in a 6 year?

Fittingly, in a 6 year you may notice themes around matters around love and the heart: marriage, family, loved ones, home, health and your ability to balance responsibilities and priorities in your life. There will be a desire to become self-reliant and at the same time, situations may arise where you may need to balance your own needs with those of others.

So as you look back on 2022, do you notice “symptoms” (physical or metaphorical) that arose, showing you where more balanced is required, or relationships or your health were at the forefront? How do you feel you responded to or handled these situations? And as you reflect on that, release any judgements or criticisms that arise with introspection (Virgo has a tendency to be highly critical - balance is required there too).

2023 and a 7 Year

2+0+2+3=7

In 2023 the 7 year will be an inner journey of learning and discovery. It seeks privacy, solitude, truth, and wisdom. Following a 6 year about balance and boundaries and structure, 7 will ask you to go within, process and integrate what you’ve learned so far by experience, and examine the direction you want to go in, and need to go in, in order to bring fulfillment. Then, have faith and trust in that direction you’re being guided.

In astrology, the 7th house is partnerships, but even deeper than that, cooperation and collaboration with others. This can be romantic, business, and platonic partnerships. It is how we work with others and the quality of our relationships. So, in a 7 year, you can expect themes of introspection as well as themes within relationships of all kinds.

In the tarot, the 7th Major Arcana card is the Chariot, representing a well-deserved reward received through hard work, self-control and discipline (that same theme from the 6th year). It is a card showing that a clear mind and thinking can help you choose the right course … like what happens during a period of introspection.

Now that you’ve gotten an idea around general themes from last year to this coming year, let’s take it a little further and dive into your personal year number. This number will give you a glimpse into your personal year ahead, and the year you’ve just completed.

Calculating Your Personal Year Number

Add the day and month you were born, reducing it to a single number:
Ex: June 3 → 6+3=9

Now add that number to the year number of 2023 → 7+9=16 → 1+6=7
7 would be your personal year number.
