Learn Your Human Design, and How You Fit into the World Around You

“You are a unique being. The combination of who you are and why you are here is as unique as your fingerprints. Human Design is about making decisions that are right for you versus what’s right for anyone else.” – The Principles of Human Design

Have you ever been acutely aware of how different people are?
How different YOU are?
How differently you navigate through the world compared to other people around you?

What if I told you not only is it normal, but you’re actually uniquely designed to be different?

That everyone walking this planet right now, and everyone before and after us, is uniquely designed… and for a purpose.

Just like a hive of bees, with different types of bees operating in different ways for the greater good of the hive, YOU are also a unique energy, with a unique skill set and energy signature to offer the world.

Your unique energy is not only useful for the greater collective, it’s needed.
Your unique energy serves a purpose for the collective.

And it serves a purpose on a mundane level as well – within your intimate relationships, your relationships within your community, and your relationship with yourself.

In this week’s blog, we’re going to explore the basics of Human Design with a focus on how Human Design can improve and enrich your relationships. You’ll learn how you connect with others, how they connect with you, and how you connect with yourself.

For a deeper dive into Human Design and all its intricacies, register today for our 2-day Human Design Workshop. Because there is so much to learn within this system, this workshop is best suited with a limited number of attendees – allowing for more one-on-one guidance.

What is Human Design?

First and foremost, Human Design is a personal development tool. It’s a way to learn more deeply about who you are, how your energy interacts with others and the world around you, and how others perceive and interact with your energy, too.

But how is all this information gathered, determined, and explained?

Well, that’s part of the intricacy of Human Design. Human Design combines astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the chakra energy system.

There are five main energy types, but within each type, there are also strategies, authorities, self and not-self themes, defined and undefined channels and gates, and more!

Now you can see why we’ve started with a 2-day workshop! There is a lot of information within one Human Design chart. And rightfully so! You are an exceptionally unique being, afterall.

A Snapshot of You: The Body Graph Chart

Like astrology, Human Design requires your birthdate, birth time, and place of birth. With this information, a Body Graph Chart is populated, showing which energy centers and channels are defined or undefined within you, what your strategy and authority are, your not-self theme, and more.

For the purpose of this introduction into Human Design, let’s explore a little more about energy types, their auras, strategies, and not-self themes… and how this bit of information can help you navigate through your relationships to others and yourself.

The Energy Types in Human Design

There are four energy types within Human Design – two of which are considered ‘energy types’ while the last two are termed ‘non-energy types’. You’ll notice five below, however. That’s because Generators and Manifesting Generators fall into the same energy type – but we’ll explain some differences between the two below.

Generators

Aura Type: open and enveloping

Strategy: wait to respond

Signature: satisfaction

No-Self Theme: frustration

Generators are the more common energy types within Human Design, comprising of about 70% of the population. Generators are sacral beings, making decisions from the sacral center. They are the builders of our world, with endless energy when they are doing something that’s an instant ‘yes’ in their bodies. Their inner authority is the feeling of ‘yes’ from the sacral center. When they aren’t living in alignment with their design (not-self theme), they experience fustration. Conversely, experiencing satisfaction when they’re in alignment with their design. Generators are here to learn about themselves.

Manifesting Generator

Aura Type: magnetic and inviting

Strategy: to respond, then inform

Signature: satisfaction

No-Self Theme: frustration

Manifesting Generators are similar to that of Generators, but they have a magnetic and inviting aura. Manifesting Generators are multi-passionate people who are here to create and inspire with their creations. Their strategy is to respond and then inform. Manifesting Generators are here to build and find shortcuts to mastery.

Manifestor

Aura Type: closed and repelling

Strategy: to inform and initiate

Signature: satisfaction

No-Self Theme: frustration

Manifestors are opposite of a Generator’s open aura. They have a closed and repelling aura. Oftentimes these are the people who appear to be taking action and initiative all on their own. Sometimes this can be jarring for others, making them feel left out. So, a Manifestors job, or it’s strategy in life, is to inform before it takes action. Not to be confused with asking permission!

Because their auras are closed and repelling, they feel suspicion from others growing up as others feel this contracted energy. Causing their not-self theme to look like anger as they want to integrate with others. Manifestors are here to understand their impact on others and they comprise 8% of the population.

Projector

Aura Type: focused and absorbing

Strategy: wait to be invited

Signature: success

No-Self Theme: bitterness

Projectors are here to guide the response and guide others. Because of their focused and absorbing aura, Projectors are here to learn about and understand others, and they include roughly 20% of the population. Projectors are considered a ‘non-energy type’ because they don’t have a consistent way to reliably turn their energy into action. Projectors and Reflectors are similar in this way.

Reflector

Aura Type: resistant and sampling

Strategy: wait a lunar cycle

Signature: surprise

No-Self Theme: disappointment

Reflectors are unique in that most, if not all, of their energy centers are wide open and undefined, making them great mirrors who reflect the environment around them. With centers wide open, it can be difficult for a Reflector to discern its energy from another. This is why their strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle, to allow time to come back into their own energy and make decisions from that place. Reflectors comprise about 1% of the population.

The Energy Types in Relationship

When considering how each energy type shows up in relationships, you’ll want to consider their aura type, strategy, and self and not-self themes.

For a Generator and Manifesting Generator, with their open and magnetic energy, you’ll notice these are the people who are ready and excited to take action. For some, this energy can come across as intense or overwhelming, especially for those who don’t have as much energy readily available.

This is where their strategy comes in. They inform and respond as a way to create communication and collaboration – allowing them the space to take action while also alerting others of their intentions so others aren’t caught off guard.

When considering a Projector, whose aura is focused and absorbing, others may experience this aura as an intrusive or vulnerable spotlight, while for others it feels comforting – like being seen. Therefore, Projectors are encouraged to wait to be invited in, so as not to seem too imposing or intrusive.

As you learn more about your own design and others’, you’ll notice how each type has a specific role within the collective.

Each type brings it’s own unique strengths and challenges… and there lies the beauty within our differences.

Through Human Design it becomes so evident that our differences are part of what makes the collective so strong, so resilient, and so adaptable.

When we each identify what we bring to the table, when we can see what others are bringing to the table as well, it becomes less about competition or superiority, and more about encouraging and nurturing those differences to better help the collective.

What a world it could be with more awareness of Human Design.
